Requirements & MatriVideo Solution

Casino Regina has around 600 cameras and Casino MooseJaw about 128. Casino MooseJaw is monitored on site as well as remote monitored through Casino Regina. The system that was installed has: 38 DVRs (30 at Regina, 8 at Moosejaw), 5 Command Centers (4 at Regina, 1 at Moosejaw), 5 nCCTVs (4 at Regina, 1 at Moosejaw). Requirements:  8 Days of Storage, 30f/s.

At Instek Digital, our mission is to provide the most reliable and scalable digital video management system for gaming operations. With full compliance with the regulations of all gaming commissions, we understand the unique surveillance requirements of a dynamic casino environment. With extensive experience in very large facilities, our systems meet the extreme demands of video quality, image resolution, redundancy and long-term storage.

These days, the Gaming Control Board has strict regulations regarding the gaming business and the investigation of problem gambling, this includes the specification of the surveillance system.  Therefore, complying with the regulations is a fundamental criterion in providing security products to the gaming business.

Function-wise the security department requires the most powerful and reliable video security system to capture precise video for evidentiary purposes when theft, gambling fraud and security leakage occurs.  As the casino is open from 9am to 4am and 7 days a week, monitoring systems need to be maintained for long periods of time and be capable of recording high quality, high-resolution video non-stop.  The video data must be preserved for at least 8 days and the system must be capable of viewing/recording both analog and IP cameras.

Installation scope

  • 38 reliable Linux-based hybrid Digital Video Recorders (hDVR), each hDVR supports a hybrid configuration of up to 16 analog and 16 IP cameras, including megapixel cameras.
  • 5 high-performance real-time video central management stations which provide 30 fps of both live and recorded video on a triple display. The Command Center also provides powerful video management and searching methods for professional security operation.
  • 5 nCCTVs, virtual matrix switch, provides an extended camera monitoring service, which helps to avoid complicated cabling work.

MatriVideoTM is an ideal solution for applications requiring high-resolution real time video images, such as casinos.  With the hybrid design, the hDVR can record feeds from both analog and IP cameras. It is scalable to support camera installation from hundreds to thousands as security projects expand and grow. By using advanced hardware H.264 compression technology, it not only trims down network bandwidth for video transmission, but also significantly reduces the total cost of data storage.  MatriVideoTM runs on the Linux operating system, which provides a more stable and secure operating environment for 24/7 video recording.
