Taiwan (May 13, 2011) – At Secutech 2011 the first automated IP network redundancy solution using a camera’s onboard storage and an NVR was demonstrated. VIVOTEK’s Seamless Recording feature can detect switch and recorder failure as well as network drop to record video using the camera’s onboard storage. Once the problem is resolved, the cameras onboard storage is automatically transferred to Instek Digital’s NVRs for a seamless transition. The video can then be accessed via Instek’s standard Command Center VMS interface without any special actions from the administrator.
Over the past few years the security industry has made a broad move to an IP based network. Within an IP network if any link in the chain failed the video could not be recorded. Camera manufacturers and system designers have been attempting to wisely integrate a camera’s onboard storage for backup recording. Many companies have claimed full functionality, but up until now Video Reclaim has not been properly integrated as an end to end network session solution. This integration of camera onboard storage and NVR Video Reclaim marks a new step in the evolution of IP network fault tolerance.
